Why I’m Asking You to Vote For Me-And Why This Isn’t Really About A Magazine Cover

I’ve been nominated for the Maxim Cover Girl magazine feature. If I’m selected, I’ll win a trip to New York and Venice, a $20,000 cash prize, and $5,000 donated to a charity of my choice.

I’ll be honest, when I first thought about how to share this, I almost made it small. Almost turned it into a quick “hey, vote for me!” post and moved on. But the more I sat with it, the more I realized this opportunity deserves the full story, because it’s not really about a cover. It’s about what a platform like this can do for the women I serve.

This Has Never Just Been About Me

Every part of my work, the life coaching, the speaking, the books, has been built on one belief: Black women deserve healing. We rise when someone hands us a mirror and says, “Look at what you’re capable of.” We rise when someone opens a door we didn’t know existed and holds it open long enough for us to walk through.

A win like this doesn’t just hand me a check and a trip. It hands me a bigger microphone. It puts me in rooms I haven’t been in yet, in front of women who haven’t found me yet, and it lets me keep building the things I care about most at a scale I couldn’t reach on my own.

What’s Actually On the Line

Let’s talk about the tangible part, because it matters:

  • A trip to New York and Venice — exposure, visibility, and the kind of momentum that opens new doors for a growing platform.
  • A $20,000 cash prize — resources I can pour directly back into the work: expanding my coaching capacity, developing new programming, and investing in the campaigns already underway.
  • $5,000 to a charity of my choice — a direct, immediate impact on a cause I believe in, no strings attached.

But if I’m honest, the number that matters most to me isn’t a dollar figure. It’s the number of women who might find their way to healing, clarity, or their next brave decision because this platform got a little louder.

Why I’m Asking for Your Vote

I don’t take it lightly to ask for help. Like a lot of women, especially women in caregiving professions, entrepreneurship, and community leadership, I’m far more comfortable giving than receiving. But I’ve learned that asking for support isn’t weakness. It’s stewardship. If I believe in the mission enough to build it, I have to believe in it enough to ask others to help carry it forward.

So here I am, asking.

If you’ve ever read something I’ve written and felt understood. If you’ve ever watched me show up for another woman and thought, I want that kind of person in my corner. If you believe even a little in what I’m building, I’m asking you to spend thirty seconds voting for me.

Vote once. Vote daily. Share this post with a woman who needs to see it. Every single one of those small actions adds up to something bigger than any of us individually.

This Win Belongs to All of Us

If I’m selected, I won’t be walking a red carpet or cashing a check alone. I’ll be walking it for every woman who’s ever felt unseen, underpriced, overextended, or unsure if her work mattered. I’ll be walking it for the moms in the 1M4 movement. For the HBCU female students receiving Love Letters to My Girls. For every woman who has trusted me with her story.

This isn’t about a cover. It’s about what the cover makes possible.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me, and thank you in advance for your vote.
